Martellus Bennett Calls Out Aaron Rodgers for 'Us vs. Them' Attitude in Comments on Protests
By Michael Luciano
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was originally heralded for his comprehensive statement on the Black Lives Matter movement and the recent protests across the country, but former Packers tight end Martellus Bennett took Rodgers to task over his language choices.
The outspoken Bennett went after his former quarterback after he claimed that Rodgers using words like "they" in his original comments make him sound more like a "spectator" merely giving his observations than an "ally" who will work to cause real change.
Bennett's comments immediately drove a wedge through an already divided Packers fanbase. While some claimed that Rodgers used words like "they" and "they're" because he is white and it would be unusual for him to identify as black, others, Bennett included, claim that Rodgers is acting like a white savior, and that his comments are more self-serving than impactful.
Bennett didn't hold back in calling out AR12 for his post. We'll see if Rodgers decides to reply to his former teammate.
