Before an intense college basketball Saturday, the Big Ten's top two teams square off Friday evening as No. 9 Maryland (18-4, 8-3) visits No. 20 Illinois (16-6, 8-3)

The game tips off Friday at 8 p.m. ET from the State Farm Center in Champaign, Illinois, and will be available on the college basketball streams subreddit.

The two teams met in their respective Big Ten openers as No. 3 Maryland snuck past unranked Illinois 59-58 at the XFinity Center in College Park on Dec. 7. Since then the Fighting Illini have ascended up the conference standings thanks to a recent seven-game win streak, which ended Sunday against No. 18 Iowa.

Terrapins forward Jalen Smith is averaging over 18 points-per-game in his last six contests, but the most intriguing matchup in this game will be the guard play. NBA prospects Anthony Cowan Jr. and Ayo Dosunmu each lead their teams in scoring this season and could easily spearhead a Friday night barnburner of a shootout.

The winner of this game owns sole possession of first place in the Big Ten with Cassius Winston and Michigan State right behind them in third place.
