Mason Rudolph Could Actually Take Legal Action Against Myles Garrett for Slander
By Michael Luciano

Mason Rudolph isn't going to sue Myles Garrett for assault after the Cleveland Browns defensive end used the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback's helmet as a weapon, but he could still take him to court.
After Garrett claimed Rudolph called him a racial slur right before the now-famous scrum, Rudolph could theoretically sue him for slander.
The NFL has several ways to probe whether Mason Rudolph directed a slur at Myles Garrett. The NFL has one witness (Garrett) saying it happened and another (Rudolph) saying it didn't. Other evidence could clarify. If Rudolph didn't say it, he could explore legal action. More here: https://t.co/Wtfsr1MmLO

Rudolph has plenty of ammunition if he wants to take Garrett to task over this. First off, no Browns or Steelers player has come forth saying they heard Rudolph utter the slur.
Second, neither team mentioned that a slur was uttered in a statement after the game. Third, he could state that if Garrett did hear him say a slur, it seems odd he waited for six days after the incident to broadcast that he was allegedly racially abused.

There is no half-racist area in this situation. Either Rudolph used a racial slur, in which case he needs to be gone yesterday, or he didn't, and Garrett looks even more desperate. Unless there is audio confirming what Rudolph did or didn't say, this appears to be one person's word against the other for the time being.
