Mason Rudolph Not Talking to Reporters After Myles Garrett Accusation is a Mistake

Amid accusations that he used a racial slur to prompt a reaction from Myles Garrett in the Browns-Steelers Thursday Night Football escapade last week, Mason Rudolph responded with...nothing.

Rudolph's legal team, as well as a Steelers spokesman and his teammates have all come to his defense. Nonetheless, given the serious allegations against him, we have nothing tangible from Rudolph himself, which ought to change immediately.

On the surface, keeping Rudolph silent may seem like the right move for Pittsburgh. However, in a conflict which has turned into a he said-he said affair, Rudolph's silence is deafening, and doesn't have the intended effect.

Instead of not speaking to reporters, he should quite literally stick to his statement in the public eye. Rudolph is 24 years old and ought to be well-trained in the field of public relations. By remaining silent he leaves his actions up for interpretation, regardless of what he's previously said or the countless denials by his legal team. Until we hear from Rudolph himself, he's doing himself no favors in the face of NEW alleged acts by his opponent.

By not clearing his name in person of such an egregious accusation, Rudolph is giving the less responsible pundits every opportunity to trash him.
