Master P Casually Offers Zion Williamson $20 Million Shoe Deal on One Big Condition
By Seth Carlson
All aboard the Zion Williamson hype train! The Duke University forward more or less unanimously expected to go No. 1 overall to the New Orleans Pelicans in the NBA Draft has already received a ton of sneaker endorsement offers, but the latest one to roll in is a bit different. It comes from raper and mogul Master P and his son, fellow emcee Romeo, worth over $20 million. However, there is one major condition: Zion has to play in their home town of New Orleans.
His draft slot is already going to land him millions, not to mention all of the other brands lining up to get endorsements from the soon-to-be No.1 overall pick. Williamson is easily the most hyped draft prospect to enter the league since Anthony Davis in 2012, and perhaps even since LeBron James in 2003. This proposed deal with Master P's MoneYatti footwear brand seems to be just the latest of what should be a long line of suitors waiting to get their share of Zion mania.
However, the condition that he go to New Orleans is surely intriguing, as most sneaker companies would probably prefer him to be more readily marketable cities like New York or Los Angeles. If Zion doesn't want New Orleans, that could be awkward, as the Pelicans would be crazy not to want him. So, is Master P going to get his wish? $20 million is hard to turn down.
