Matt Harvey Reportedly Among 3 MLB All-Stars Interested in Playing in KBO
By Michael Luciano
Just when it looked like former New York Mets ace Matt Harvey's baseball career was on the downswing, the KBO might be willing to throw him a bone and help him get back on the right track.
Harvey is one of three former MLB All-Stars who are considering playing in the KBO this season. This could be a major success for Harvey, as he will finally get a chance to rebuild his value as a pitcher.
After "The Dark Knight" looked like the next great Mets starter, complications from thoracic outlet surgery derailed his career, as he posted a 5.65 ERA from 2016 onward just a few years after an All-Star appearance and a fourth place Cy Young finish. Stints with the Cincinnati Reds and Los Angeles Angels did little to rebuild his value, and his reputation was left in tatters.
Finding a landing spot could be a little tricky, as most KBO teams have already hit their limit on foreign-born players on their roster. However, the Kiwoom Heroes recently putting former Seattle Mariners utility player Taylor Motter on waivers could open up a spot for Harvey.
The KBO might be Harvey's last chance, as poor performances in Korea would scare away other MLB teams from trying to take a flier on him.
