Matt LaFleur's Latest Mike Pettine Quote Doesn't Instill Confidence Packers Will Keep Him
By Jerry Trotta

The NFL is a business first and foremost, and imposing regular seasons doesn't always mean job security.
Despite the Green Bay Packers ranking in the top 10 in the majority of elemental defensive categories, there's been talk brewing inside the organization which suggests the future of defensive coordinator Mike Pettine is in jeopardy.
Well, head coach Matt LaFleur's latest comments on the buzz won't inspire much confidence on Pettine's chances to retain his job.
Matt LaFleur asked if he's sticking with DC Mike Pettine: "We're still working through everything, just trying to evaluate everything."

Talk about a dubious quote. As things stand, it's anyone's guess as to whether the Pack's braintrust is keen on keeping Pettine.
Though his canning would be harsh considering how well his group performed throughout the regular season, and how lifeless the offense was for large durations, Green Bay was thoroughly manhandled by the 49ers in the NFC title game.
The way Matt LaFleur spoke about the defense today, it's really hard to imagine Mike Pettine returning, especially after he punted on endorsing him to return.

They had zero answers for tailback Raheem Mostert, who totaled 229 yards and four touchdowns on 29 carries, numbers that equated to a whopping 7.6 yards per carry. Failing to get your defense up for the biggest game of the season is a bitter pill for Pettine to swallow, and it might end up costing him his job.
