Matt Nagy's Latest Move Should Keep Bears Mentally and Physically Healthy
By Jerry Trotta

The Chicago Bears are an easy pick for a bounce back candidate in 2020 after a largely pedestrian showing last season in which they finished 8-8. While head coach Matt Nagy is seeing to it that his players are well prepared for the trek, he's also ensuring that they aren't mentally drained with training camp on the horizon.
Per reports, the Bears are ending their virtual offseason workout program a week and a half early so that his players can train their bodies and gear up for next season.
#Bears HC Matt Nagy informed his players that they will end their virtual offseason workout program a week and a half early. He’s happy with the work they’ve done virtually, and hopes this will allow them to focus on their bodies and not worry about meetings.

This is an applaudable decision from Nagy. As important as reviewing schemes and blueprints is, professional athletes aren't robots. There's only so many particulars they can digest in one week. In normal circumstances, they wouldn't be forced to attend as many virtual team meetings as they have been this offseason.
If Nagy feels that they fulfilled their end of the bargain, then he was certainly justified in ending things early. Not only is this a smart move from a mental and physical standpoint, but it never hurts for a head coach to jump at the opportunity to secure brownie points with his players.

Asking tenacious competitors to skip meetings so that they can spend more time grinding in the gym absolutely went over well in the Bears locker room. As a head coach, that's really all Nagy could ask for as he prepares for his third year at the helm in the Windy City.
