The social media age has completely changed the way we interact with each other. And it seems its not just kids who are using screens to avoid awkward face-to-face interactions.

Former Baylor head man Matt Rhule signed on to be the Carolina Panthers' newest head coach with a monumental seven year, $60 million contract total after quickly rising through college football's coaching ranks, but the way his players found out about the news was far from inviting.

It seems the head coach informed his players of his departure through a text message, in which he apologized that his players had to hear about the news through the media.

While Rhule invited his players to go visit him any time, this is a message that probably would have been better delivered in person. While we doubt the Bears players would fault him for pursuing an NFL coaching career, it wouldn't be surprising if this text message left some with a sour taste in their mouth.

Carolina's offer may have simply been too much for Rhule to turn down, as he's now set to make $60 million over the next seven seasons.
