Matt Ryan's Incredible Start Streak Comes to an End as Falcons Rule Him Out for Week 8
By Parker White

There was plenty of speculation this week surrounding Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan and whether he'd start on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.
Well, the rumors turned out to be true. He's been ruled out, handing over the reins over to backup quarterback Matt Schaub, which will end Ryan's impressive consecutive starts streak at 154 games (163 if you include the playoffs).
Matt Ryan's consecutive starts streak ends at 154 games (163 counting playoffs). That's the fifth-longest in NFL history behind:

297 Brett Favre (321 counting playoffs)
215 Philip Rivers (226)
210 Eli Manning (222)
208 Peyton Manning (227) https://t.co/g8XqrgbnBy
This will be the first time since 2009 Ryan will not be the Falcons starting quarterback. Ryan is dealing with an ankle injury he suffered last week, and with the team at 1-6, there's no reason for him to even consider toughing it out and playing through it.

Schaub, 38, will be making his first start at quarterback in the NFL since 2015 with the Baltimore Ravens. To make sure the Falcons are covered if something happens to Schaub on Sunday, quarterback Danny Etling was called up from the practice squad to be their backup.
