Mattress Mack Put Another $1 Million on the Astros to Win the World Series and This Needs to Stop
By Parker White
When you believe in your team so much, sometimes your judgement is clouded. That appears to be the case for Jim McIngvale, who is also know as "Mattress Mack."
The Houston furniture store owner is loaded with cash, which is why he was able to bet more than $10 million on his Houston Astros to win the World Series.
If that isn't crazy enough, McIngvale landed in Teterboro Airport in New Jersey on Friday so he could place another $1.05 million in bets on his Astros. Does he know that Houston is down 0-2 in the series?
The $1.05 million he laid down was made up of four separate bets with two different sportsbooks, Unibet and William Hill.
Mattress Mack bet $100,000 at +210 odds on the Astros to win the World Series, which would net him $210,000 if they pull it off. He also wagered $150,000 at -152 odds on the Astros to win Game 3, netting him $99,000.
The craziness didn't end there, as he went to William Hill and bet $300,000 at +210 odds on Houston winning the Fall Classic, which would net him $630,000. His final bet was $500,000 at -140 odds for tonight's game, which would net him $357,142 if they're able to grab their first win of the series.
This is where a friend or family member would step in and shut this down, but the multi-millionaire has supreme confidence in his squad. For his sake, let's hope he's right, at least for tonight's contest.
