Luka Doncic Signs Sneaker Deal With Jordan Brand
Luka Doncic is in the midst of one heck of a season. The dreaded sophomore slump has spared the 20-year-old Slovenian to this point, as he is currently averaging 29.3 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 8.6 assists per game, and has an intriguing case to be the league's MVP up to this point in the season.
Doncic has famously been a "sneaker free-agent" in the NBA despite his star power, however. But with Saturday came reports that the second-year phenom is raedy to declare himself a member of Team Jumpman.
With Doncic headed to Nike's wholly-owned Jordan Brand, one has to wonder if his current MVP-level run will earn him a deal that exceeds the value of the one signed by 2019 No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson.
With Doncic en-route to one of the best professional seasons we have ever seen for a European-born player, it's safe to say that his signature shoe will have an attractive global appeal. The marketability of a player as likable and fun to watch as Luka should net him a fat endorsement contract, and should serve as a fine feather in the cap for Michael Jordan and the Jumpman empire.
