Max Muncy Admits to Flopping for Late Time Call and Yankees and Gleyber Torres Should All Be Furious

For those who need a quick refresher as to how the ludicrous ninth inning between the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers played out on Saturday: a Gio Urshela fielder's choice saw Brett Gardner take out Max Muncy with his slide into second base and Gleyber Torres, who advanced to third on the play, had the opportunity to steal a run for the Pinstripes.

Thanks to an absurdly late timeout call by Kenley Jansen, however, Torres was forced to go back to third and the Yanks ultimately lost the contest on a Gary Sanchez strikeout.

Fast forward to the post-game pressers and Muncy admitted to milking his "injury" so that the umps would grant the timeout call.

Somewhere in La La Land, Torres just broke a television. There's just no place for these kind of acting antics in baseball.

Could we label it a resourceful way of thinking of Muncy to try and get the benefit of the doubt? Perhaps, but does that make it any less lame and genuinely irritating?

No. A resounding and profound, NO.

Us neither, Gleyber. Us neither.

In sum, Torres brilliant base-running instincts were for naught and the Bombers were deprived of an impartial, clean ending -- they would have tied the freaking game if not for the umps' gaffe -- all because of a flop-job by Muncy.

Expect Aaron Boone and Co. to protest the Dodgers' shady dub, even though MLB probably won't do much about it.
