Perhaps the most surprising storyline concerning the final All-Star Game rosters was the fact that the Los Angeles Dodgers, who own the best record in all of baseball, only had one position player (Cody Bellinger) make the roster.

Well, thanks to an injury, the club can now say they have two position players headed to Cleveland in a few days time. Max Muncy has joined the National League squad as a replacement for Washington Nationals slugger Anthony Rendon, who opted against participating in the event.

The tweak comes with a bit of irony as Rendon originally beat out Muncy for the backup third baseman job behind the Rockies' Nolan Arenado.

The word surrounding the Nationals star is that he's not dealing with any serious ailment. Rendon is just wisely taking the extra few days off to heal some bumps and bruises and prepare for the second half.

Muncy, on the other hand, has clubbed 21 home runs while driving in 59 RBI and scoring another 55. He also boasts a 3.5 WAR, amongst the highest in all of baseball.

He absolutely deserved the nod, though he was ultimately MLB's third choice at third base in the NL.
