Max Scherzer Provides Update on His Status After Throwing Before World Series Game 6
By Ian Anderson
Max Scherzer was scratched from the Nationals 7-1 loss to the Houston Astros in Game 5 of the World Series with neck spasms, and it's safe to say that the Nationals missed the three-time Cy Young Award winner.
Prior to a potential elimination Game 6 in Houston, Scherzer was reported to be seen throwing in the outfield. Mad Max later gave an encouraging remark to reporters saying, "I'm good."
The Nationals trail the Astros 3-2 in the World Series after jumping out to a 2-0 series lead and Scherzer's return will be welcomed with open arms. In Game 1 of the World Series Scherzer threw 5 innings with only 2 earned runs and 7 strikeouts.
While it seems likely that Houston will walk away with their second World Series in three seasons, Washington's playoff run should not be disregarded. After entering as a Wild Card team, the Nationals worked their way past the Brewers, Dodgers, and the Cardinals during the NL stages of the playoffs.
The Nats will be hoping to force a Game 7 and get their ace back on the mound. And based on his latest update, it looks like he'll be good to go when called upon.
