Melvin Gordon's Projected Contract Would Rank Him Among Highest-Paid Running Backs
By Max Scoli

The Los Angeles Chargers and star running back Melvin Gordon have reportedly reached a stalemate in contract negotiations, as the team's reported offer of $10 million per year was not enough for the two-time Pro Bowler. Gordon since requested a trade from the organization.
When asked about the lack of progression in contract talks, Gordon stated, "I know my value. I know what I bring to this team, and I'm sticking with that."
But is an annual income of $10 million really a number to be upset about? No. In fact, it would make him one of the highest-paid NFL players at his position.
Melvin Gordon’s agent says he requested a trade from the Chargers last week.

Only three other running backs make an eight-figure salary: Todd Gurley ($14,375,000), Le'Veon Bell ($13,125,000), and David Johnson ($13,000,000). These guys are arguably the three best halfbacks that the game has to offer, yet Melvin Gordon wants to be in their company?
He may be caught wanting.

The Wisconsin product did have a quality 2018 season, totaling 885 rushing yards, ten rushing touchdowns, 50 receptions, 590 receiving yards, and 4 receiving touchdowns as a member of the Chargers.
However, Gordon is going to have to break 1,000 yards and make it a habit in order to earn the kind of dollar amount he is looking for.
