The New York Mets are in the midst of another rough patch, but they are getting back a key part of their offense tonight. On Wednesday, they activated veteran second baseman Robinson Cano from the injured list.

In a corresponding roster move, outfielder Aaron Altherr was designated for assignment.

Cano's start to his Mets career hasn't gone so well, as he's slashing just .241/.287/.371 with 16 extra-base hits (3 home runs) and 13 RBI over 45 games.

Suffering a left quad strain certainly didn't help his 2019 season, but maybe his time away cleared his head and he begin performing like the slugger he authentically was for so long.

For the third time this season, Altherr has been DFA'd. He began his season with the Philadelphia Phillies and then ended up with the San Francisco Giants before landing in Queens. In 29 games (40 at-bats) between the three clubs, Altherr is slashing a woeful .050/.095/.150 with 1 home run and 2 RBI.
