Mets Actually Included 2 Living Former Players in Ode to Deceased Members of 1969 World Series Team
By Sean Facey

The Mets made a touching tribute to the members of the 1969 Miracle Mets on Saturday, but in doing so, they made a massive blunder.
While honoring the departed, the Mets paid tribute to Jim Gosger and Jesse Hudson...both of whom are alive.
Well the #Mets announced Jim Gosger as one of the 1969 team's deceased members. He's alive and well. #fail https://t.co/1RUqhXFjbV pic.twitter.com/YzKfnXJhoy

Nothing is more typical of the Mets than thinking that two players from the franchise's most iconic team are dead, failing to double-check that they are, and then honoring them in front of a stadium full of fans ahead of a game.
This is accurate. Team has apologized to Jim Gosger and trying to get in touch with Jesse Hudson, I’m told. #mets https://t.co/WX95LZmUZk

At least we now know that they don't stay up to date with players from the team that brought them their franchise's first World Series title.
2 guys in @mets remembrance are still ALIVE!!! WTF??? Jim Gosger and Jessie Hudson are both still with us!!! #IloveBaseball @BruceBeck4NY @Andy_Adler @MLBNetwork @SNYtv #whatgoeson pic.twitter.com/Qhp8M1ZM29

Seriously, this was a heartwarming way to honor the memory of those players, but it's just astounding that they managed to mess up this badly. Even for the Mets, this is low.
And yet, it's almost not surprising at all. Nothing has gone right for the Mets this year, so why should their well-intended pregame ceremony be spared from the nonsense?
