With a young core that includes the likes of Pete Alonso, Jeff McNeil, Amed Rosario, and Michael Conforto, the New York Mets might just have one of the best looking teams for years to come.

And with their elite pitching staff backing the young bats, it could be a big year for the Amazins. One of the members of that pitching staff, Noah Syndergaard, has avoided arbitration with the team and is all set for 2020.

Syndergaard and the Mets agreeed to a one-year contract for $9.7 million on Friday, which is a steal given the right-hander's abilities. Thor will have one more year of arbitration-eligibility remaining in 2021.

The Mets are hopeful this rotation, with Syndergaard backing ace Jacob deGrom, can lead the team back to the World Series. Fans have been clamoring for another Thor postseason start, considering the 27-year-old owns a 2.42 WRA in five playoff appearances.

A staff that includes deGrom, Syndergaard, Marcus Stroman, Steven Matz, and either Rick Porcello or Michael Wacha is most certainly viewed as the deepest in the MLB. The bullpen is no joke either, with pieces like Seth Lugo, Robert Gsellman, Dellin Betances, and Edwin Diaz ready to rebound in 2020.

It remains to be seen, however, if the Mets overcome a division that features the World Series champion Washington Nationals, powerhouse Atlanta Braves, and Bryce Harper-led Phillies.
