Mets Blow Game Against Phillies in Most Mets Way Possible as Bullpen Melts Down Again
By Michael Luciano

The Mets just can't seem to do anything right this week. They can't seem to do anything right most of the time, but the last few weeks have been particularly rancid.
Even with a lead against the hated rival Phillies and one of their best relievers --which, admittedly, is not saying much -- on the mound in Seth Lugo, the Mets found a way to mess this up. Lugo got the inning-ending strikeout of Scott Kingery he needed, but the ball bounced away from Tomas Nido to keep the inning alive for the Phils. On the next at bat, Jean Segura tied the game at 4-4 with an RBI single.
A two-out strikeout by Seth Lugo was not enough to get the Mets out of this inning with the lead. Wild pitch on the K prolongs the frame, and Segura ties it one batter later.

The New York Mets. Reliably, unintentionally comedic after all these years.
With a lack of options outside of Lugo and Edwin Diaz, who has had is own struggles in the month of June, Mickey Callaway has been forced to use Lugo more often than necessary, which could go some way as to explaining why he struggled in this game.
Sunday: Lugo struggling, pitch count very high, Mickey stays with him.

Wednesday: Vargas cruising, 77 pitches and a 3 run lead and he takes him out.
The pitching isn’t very good folks, but this is a horrendous manager who’s supposed to be a “pitching” guy, with zero feel! #Mets
New York couldn't capitalize after that. In the bottom of the 10th, Jay Bruce delivered the walk-off win for the Phillies to add even more insult to injury. Terrible.
When it rains it pours. Even when the Mets have had breaks go in the favor in recent weeks, they've reverted to their old ways and managed to blow beyond comfortable leads.
