Mets Considering Position Shift for Amed Rosario
By Charles Nason

New York Mets shortstop Amed Rosario could find himself at a new position very soon. With manager Mickey Callaway searching for more options in center field, Rosario could be the answer.
The Mets have two playable center fielders in Carlos Gomez and Juan Lagares, but with those two underperforming at the plate, Callaway is considering something else entirely. And Rosario sounds amenable to the idea.
He's open to it. https://t.co/hewPuvdmPS

"I'm a natural shortstop, as I have been my whole life," Rosario said, per the New York Post. "But if it's something the team needs me to do, I'm willing to do it."
Although no definitive moves have been made just yet, Rosario's positional versatility could be huge for the Mets moving forward. The 23 year-old has apparently fielded fly balls from the outfield during batting practice to prepare for the possible situation of him playing in center field.
Interesting convo between Amed Rosario & Mickey Callaway yesterday ... the manager approached the shortstop about the possibility of playing in the outfield.

Rosario has only shagged fly balls during BP, but he said he’s open to it if the #Mets need him in the outfield.
Whether or not Rosario actually sees any time in the outfield, it's a puzzling move by one of the most skilled teams in the MLB. Instead of calling up an outfield prospect, Callaway and the Mets would rather move their starting shortstop to a foreign position? It's possible that this ends up being another puzzling decision from a skipper who's on increasingly thin ice.
