Mets Third Baseman JD Davis Exits Game With Injury After Diving for Grounder
By Michael Luciano

New York Mets stars have a talent for sustaining potentially serious injuries in Spring Training that is unmatched by any other team across of baseball.
The unfortunate subject of this worrying trend this time around is third baseman and outfielder JD Davis, who left a game against the Detroit Tigers after failing to snag a Cameron Maybin single down the third base line.
Mets third baseman J.D. Davis stayed down on ground for a few minutes after diving for a Cameron Maybin ground-ball single in fifth inning. He's back up, but he's leaving game.

And with that, Mets baseball is back.
A former Houston Astro, Davis hit .307 with 22 home runs last season, but his impact on the Mets was blunted by the fact his -2.4 dWAR solidified his status as one of the worst defensive players in all of baseball.
While Davis did leap right back up, and this is likely a precaution, Mets fans have already had their fill of serious injuries in Spring Training.

Davis' development at third base was going to be one of the more interesting stories to watch unfold down in Port St. Lucie, but all of that will have to be put on the backburner as Mets officials check on his health.
