We now have confirmation that New York Mets infielder Jed Lowrie is indeed alive. In fact, he's actually on the comeback trail and might play in September games as the Mets push for the Wild Card.

Lowrie is playing second base and hitting second for the Syracuse Mets, where he and fellow injured Met Brandon Nimmo are working to get back on the field in time to help the big league club sneak into the playoffs.

The 35-year-old Lowrie had the best season of his career last year with the Oakland Athletics, as he hit .267 with 23 home runs and 99 RBI and made his first All-Star team.

Lowrie has yet to suit up for the Mets due to several different injuries. While originally sidelined due to capsule sprain in his right knee, he suffered hamstring and calf strains during his rehab.

There's finally a light at the end of the tunnel, and Lowrie is close to returning to action.

The Mets chose to spend $20 million over two years bring Lowrie in, and it appears to finally be time to see if he's worth the investment.
