Mets' Jeff McNeil Diagnosed With Fractured Wrist Following Hit by Pitch vs Marlins
By Scott Rogust

With the New York Mets' postseason dreams officially dead, a devastating injury was the last thing the team needed.
While facing the Miami Marlins, Jeff McNeil took an 89 MPH fastball from pitcher Josh Smith to the right wrist. After being examined by medical staff, McNeil was removed from the game.
As it turns out, McNeil underwent X-rays, which revealed a right distal ulnar fracture, officially ending his 2019 campaign and delaying his offseason workouts.

Of course this would happen with just a few games to go in the year.
McNeil, nicknamed "Flying Squirrel," became a fan favorite for his hustle and ability to hit for average and power. In fact, besides rookie Pete Alonso, McNeil was the Mets' most consistent hitter throughout the season.

In 132 games this season, McNeil accumulated a .317 batting average, .384 on-base percentage, and .530 slugging percentage to go along with 23 home runs and 73 RBI.
With the Mets' playoff dreams officially over, McNeil will spend his winter recovering and getting ready for Spring Training in 2020.
