Mets' Latest Pick to Interview for Manager Job Will Excite Absolutely No One
By Ryan Giglio
In their quest to find a new manager, Brodie Van Wagenen and the New York Mets have a chance to prove that winning, not money, is the No. 1 objective in Queens.
But the news that the likes of Skip Schumaker and Tim Bogar are the latest to interview with for the position is scary and disappointing for Mets fans everywhere.
After the disaster that was Mickey Callaway during his two years as skipper, Mets fans are clamoring for an experienced manager with past success.
While Joe Girardi is the most popular choice, it seems the Amazins' faithful will even accept guys like Buck Showalter or Dusty Baker.
However, SNY's Andy Martino is reporting that Girardi will more likely be managing in Philadelphia than in New York in 2020.
Losing Girardi to a division rival will enrage Mets fans, especially if the team hires Schumaker, Bogar or one of the other lesser-named candidates.
The Mets' last inexpensive and inexperienced hire for a win-now team (Callaway in 2017) was a massive disappointment. Van Wagenen can not have a repeat of this situation two years later.
