Beltran had a fantastic 20-year career, mostly spent with the Kansas City Royals and Mets. He batted .279 with 435 homers and 1,587 RBI, and was considered one of the best switch-hitters of his generation.
In his final year as a player, he was able to win a World Series with the aforementioned Astros, who are now in the middle of a huge scandal after former Astros pitcher Mike Fiers admitted the utilized cameras to steal opposing teams' signs. After that happened, Beltran was among those accused of playing a key role in the whole thing.
Nonetheless, Stroman has chosen to recognize his manager for his unquestionable talents and devotion to the game, and Mets fans have to be happy about the players rallying around their new boss.
We'll see if this translates onto the field where Beltran will look to lead the Mets back to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
