Mets' Probable Pitchers for This Week Sets up Perfectly for Big Run
By Max Scoli

Just when you thought the New York Mets had no shot to make the MLB postseason, they turn around to thrust themselves back into the playoff conversation.
The Amazins have won nine of their last 10 games, moving to within three games of a Wild Card spot. They also have no reason to slow down with several more-than-favorable pitching matchups on the horizon to start the first full week of August.
Great road trip for the squad. Amazing new beginnings for myself. Crazy excited to get back to NY. Can’t wait to feel that energy! #LFGM ? @Mets pic.twitter.com/Kw2ad2rLWe

The team will begin their home stand with a doubleheader on Monday against the Miami Marlins. Jacob deGrom will be on the mound in Game 1 for the Mets, and considering the way the former Cy Young Award winner has been pitching lately, he'll give the Mets a good shot to walk away with a win.

Game 2 will feature Walker Lockett and Robert Dugger. Lockett isn't exactly the most reliable pitcher on New York's roster, but Dugger will be making his MLB debut and will undoubtedly have many kinks and anxieties to work out as he takes the mound.
All in all, the Mets shouldn't have any problems taking at least two games from this series, with three wins being the goal and expectation.
The #Mets did what they had to do on this road trip. 5-1 is all you can ask for even against these 2nd tier teams. They have a series against Miami in which anything less than 3-1 would be disappointing. But with the way they’re pitching right now, the sky is the limit.

The club will then take on the Washington Nationals for a three-game weekend series at Citi Field, and have all their best arms ready to go for each matchup.
Newly acquired Marcus Stroman will make his Citi Field debut for the Mets on Friday. The All-Star pitcher made his first appearance in the team's uniform in Pittsburgh on Saturday, going 4.1 inning and allowing 7 hits, 3 runs, and 2 walks while striking out 3 batters.

Noah Syndergaard will take the bump on Saturday against Patrick Corbin, making it likely that deGrom's next turn in the rotation will be against Max Scherzer on Sunday in an aces duel.
The way these matchups are shaping up, it is possible that the Mets could be in playoff position by the time the week is out, should their guys pitch up to expectation.
