Pete Alonso has been one of the most dominant players in all of baseball this year, and he's producing at his ridiculous rate while earning a salary of $550,000. Well the Mets and Alonso agreed to a new deal, but it isn't to do with his contract for the club.
Alonso and the Mets signed a unique deal which allows the team to have exclusive rights to his game-used memorabilia.

Alonso's rookie season has been filled with records and never before seen moments. He holds the rookie home run record, Mets single season home run record and won a home run derby on top of that. It makes sense that a player as in demand as Alonso would be the first to sign on for one of these unique deals.
And just as with everything the first baseman does, he's taking it one step further as he plans to donate the proceeds to the Mets Foundation.
