Mets Reportedly Fire Pitching Coach Dave Eiland and Bullpen Coach Chuck Hernandez

Let the panicking in Queens begin.
After another series loss, this time at the hands of NL East-leading Atlanta Braves, the New York Mets have decided to make some changes. According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Mets are firing pitching coach Dave Eiland and bullpen coach Chuck Hernandez.
The Mets ranked 20th in MLB with a 4.67 ERA, including ranking 28th in MLB with a woeful 5.38 bullpen ERA. Even though the rotation has been solid, the bullpen has failed this team, which why Eiland and Hernandez are losing their jobs.
It's a little silly to think their bullpen is going to be a lot stronger with the firing of Eiland and Hernandez, but these are the fall guys, at the moment, for New York's terrible start to the season that has them four games under .500 and 8.5 games out of the division lead.
This isn't that shocking. We are talking about a team that just had a full team meeting. That's never a good sign. What's most surprising, I'd say, is that Mickey Callaway is sticking around, for the time being.
