Mets Reportedly Holding Team Meeting to Teach Players How to Deal With Media is Embarrassing
By Sean Facey

The Mets are holding a team meeting -- the second one in a week -- but for completely separate reason than the first.
Following the altercation between reporter Tim Healey, Mets manager Mickey Callaway and starter Jason Vargas, it seems as though the players are receiving instructions on how to deal with the media.
Mets will hold a team meeting before the clubhouse opens to reporters today. Sounds like players will receive instructions on how to handle the aftermath of yesterday’s blow up.

Tensions are running high for the Mets this year. They've underperformed wildly, posting a 37-41 record, and manager Mickey Callaway has constantly been under fire from the media for the countless problems he's seemingly created or run into.e
Callaway reportedly sounded off on Healy following a 5-3 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Sunday, and Vargas reportedly challenged Healy to a fight to boot.
There's been plenty of speculation around the incident, some of it suggesting that it was an attempt by Callaway to get fired.
Mets are toxic right now. Lots of distrust among coaching staff, players and front office. Possible that Mickey Callaway is trying to get fired, hence today’s blowup with Tom Healey of Newsday.

Regardless, the entire situation is egg on the face of an already embarrassing Mets franchise. Nothing has gone right for the team on the field this season, but a clash with the media and a team meeting takes the cake as the last thing that they needed.
The fact that they'll be holding the players' hands through interactions with the media almost halfway through the season is laughable.
