Mets Reportedly Send Omar Minaya to Yankees Top Prospect Deivi Garcia's Triple-A Debut
By Adam Weinrib

Though the Yankees and Mets are generally unlikely bedfellows, they've certainly skirted around the precipice of some trade talks for nearly eight months now.
The two teams reportedly discussed a wild Noah Syndergaard-Gary Sanchez three-way swap with the Marlins this offseason (luckily for Yankee fans, this never materialized), and Zack Wheeler has been on the Yanks' radar for some time now.
As it turns out, the Mets aren't in too much disarray to avoid due diligence; they're sending front office special assistant Omar Minaya to scout the Triple-A debut of 20-year-old Deivi Garcia, the Yanks' most vaunted pitching prospect since Luis Severino.
Sources: The Mets have sent top evaluator Omar Minaya to see Yankees top pitching prospect Deivi Garcia make his Triple A debut tonight. As we know, the teams have talked about Wheeler and syndergaard on and off for many months https://t.co/fJri5l7XsU

Yankee fans are, understandably, split on this news.

Just kidding! They want no part of surrendering the flame-throwing Garcia to their crosstown rivals, even in exchange for someone like Syndergaard, who's seen better days.
Of course, the Yankees also scouted Syndergaard's excellent start in Miami this past weekend, and Garcia would likely be a good reflection of the caliber of prospect needed to get a Thor package going. Take from all of this what you will, New York, but you're poised to be the epicenter of trade deadline action even if this particular idea goes nowhere.
