Mets Reportedly 'Unlikely' to Deal Steven Matz or Noah Syndergaard at Deadline

It's a sinking ship in Queens, as the New York Mets have underachieved mightily and will likely be sellers at the trade deadline.
They could quickly revamp this roster if they moved some signature pieces, but according to Mike Puma of the New York Post, the Mets “would likely have to be overwhelmed by a trade proposal” to trade starters Noah Syndergaard and Steven Matz.
Maybe a team would overpay to bring in Syndergaard, but it seems like the boys in Flushing won't move him right now. Check back when the offseason rolls around, as New York can't continue to keep the status quo, and Thor would bring in a nice haul, even following a down year.
Both Matz and Syndergaard are having step-back seasons and their trade value isn't that high, but there are several teams, including the San Diego Padres, Milwaukee Brewers and Houston Astros, that have interest in Syndergaard.
Matz, in particular, has shown flashes of being a frontline starter, but injuries and inconsistencies have kept him and his value down. Syndergaard has also dealt with the injury bug over the last couple years, but when he's on top of his game, there isn't a starting pitcher more dominant.
The Mets shouldn't completely close the door on possibly moving Syndergaard or Matz, but it looks like they'll wait till the offseason to even consider it.
