VIDEO: SNY is Tweeting About Matt Harvey Bullpen Sessions and it Needs to Stop
By Jerry Trotta
Matt Harvey's fall from grace in Queens is well-documented, but it's still just as mind-boggling even now. Friday marks the two-year anniversary of the club divorcing itself from the former All-Star in a trade with the Cincinnati Reds. He is currently a free agent after brief pit stops with the Reds and Los Angeles Angels, both of whom designated him for assignment. It's now been five seasons since "The Dark Knight" was an effective pitcher for the Mets, which is precisely why their regional television network, SNY, needs to stop tweeting out videos of his bullpen sessions.
Make it stop! We fully acknowledge that Harvey was one of the best hurlers in the MLB for a brief moment in time, but he doesn't deserve this sort of publicity anymore. Since 2016, the 31-year-old hasn't logged an ERA lower than 4.50.
If Mets fans are really holding onto his heroic performance in Game of the 2015 World Series, which they lost, well, that's just sad.
What sort of psychedelic Kool-Aid are you drinking, sir?
Don't give SNY the fuel it needs to continue publicizing Harvey's comeback efforts. With all due respect, this, even during quarantine, doesn't qualify as "news."
