Mets Star Noah Syndergaard Comments on Zack Wheeler Signing Huge Deal With Phillies
By Karl Rasmussen

Zack Wheeler and Noah Syndergaard spent three seasons playing alongside each other in New York, but after the former hit free agency, he inked a new contract with the Philadelphia Phillies.
While some may be upset that Wheeler would sign for an NL East rival, Syndergaard showed no ill will towards his former comrade when commenting on the deal.
Noah Syndergaard tells The Post: "I'm sad to see Wheeler leave the Mets and to a divisional competitor. But at the same time I am happy to see him get a fat paycheck. He is an elite pitcher."

Syndergaard did admit that he was sad to see Wheeler sign for a competitor, but complimented him on the $118 million deal he inked in Philly, while also calling Wheeler an "elite pitcher."
The 29-year-old Wheeler went 11-8 in 2019 with a 3.96 ERA and 195 strikeouts in 195.1 innings. It was his fourth season posting a sub-4.00 ERA, having only failed to do so once in his playing career.

With Wheeler joining the Phillies there's a real chance he and Syndergaard will square off in a pitcher's duel at some point in the future. That's a matchup no Mets fan will want to miss out on.
