Mets Twitter Account Declares Jacob deGrom Cy Young Winner After Dominant Outing

There hasn't been a clear front-runner for the National League Cy Young Award for most of the season, but a familiar face might be coming out on top for the second consecutive campaign.

New York Mets right-hander Jacob deGrom has been fabulous in 2019, backing up what was a historic 2018 campaign. In 32 starts, deGrom has recorded a 2.43 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 255 strikeouts over 204 innings.

In seemingly his final start of the season, deGrom put a bow on a Cy Young-caliber year, tossing seven shutout innings with seven strikeouts and only two hits allowed.

Per the Mets, especially considering Max Scherzer's injury, it's DONE.

If you are a Mets fan or have any affiliation with the team from Queens, last night's performance put a wrap on what would be deGrom's second-straight Cy Young Award, as the team declared above.

Of course, can you blame them for thinking that?

The righty has been consistently great all year, while the likes of Max Scherzer, Hyun-Jin Ryu, Jack Flaherty and Mike Soroka have either missed time or had moments of mediocrity.

The Mets season may be done in a few days, but it's not because deGrom hasn't been all-time great. Barring health, we could be witnessing one of the greatest pitchers of this generation.
