Mets Twitter Drops Savage Response to Random Fan Who Asked for a Follow
By Will Fowler
Direct interaction between team and fan is one of the ways that social media has made the sports experience so fun over the last decade or so. Whether it be conducting polls with the fan base, doing a Q&A, or even commenting on a meme or two, these exchanges tend to result in a worthy laugh for all involved.
Sometimes, though, teams can get really, really ruthless for the sake of a joke-- take what Mets Twitter did to this fan today, for example.
Oh, boy.
I get that a team's social media staff isn't necessarily supposed to go after its fans, but it's always fun to see a team have some fun with Twitter or Instagram in the middle of a frustrating season. Some other fans went along with it, too.
Stop! He's already dead!
It seems to be a lost season for the Mets this year, as crippling bullpen woes and injuries have once again derailed a season that looked so promising on Opening Day.
At least this social media team can still have a laugh. I don't think you'll find Brodie Van Wagenen and Mickey Callaway sharing the same sentiment, however.
