Mets Twitter Has Epic Troll for Nationals After Wild 9th Inning Comeback
By Michael Luciano
It sounds weird to say this out loud, but the New York Mets can do no wrong of late.
The Mets have won 14 of their last 15 games, including an improbable 7-6 comeback victory over the Washington Nationals in which they scored four runs off closer Sean Doolittle in the ninth inning. In the aftermath of that win, the Mets didn't forget the Nationals' attempt at trolling them following a Juan Soto home run earlier in the game, and they seized the opportunity to clap back.
When your closer gives up four runs in less than an inning, you have to prepare yourself for stuff like this.
Doolittle, who has an ERA of 15.00 against the Mets this year and a sub-2.00 against everyone else combined, fell victim to an unprecedented hot streak from Michael Conforto, who continued his torrid August by picking up the first walk-off hit in his career.
The Nationals, who were on the verge of firing Dave Martinez before a hot streak of their own, aren't exactly in the position to start trolling. Best to wait for the game to be over, guys.
