Mexico City Venue for Chiefs-Chargers Has Made On-Field Improvements After Last Year's Debacle
By Jerry Trotta

Remember last year when the Monday night fixture between the Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs was flexed from Mexico City to the LA Memorial Coliseum because of the abysmal field conditions at Estadio Azteca?
The move served as a PR embarrassment for the NFL, and it appears that the league has learned from their mistakes.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Sunday that the league has made significant efforts to ensure that Azteca is game-ready in 2019 for the Nov.18 matchup between the Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers.

Schefter adds that the league supplemented additional resources to improve those conditions, and, as things currently stand, this year's Monday night showdown will go on as planned.
Those resources include Azteca hiring a field consultant (recommended by the NFL). The iconic stadium is now equipped with a brand new pipe drainage and irrigation system.
Additionally, new sod has been installed, no concerts have been scheduled for months, and a soccer match hasn't been played at Azteca since Nov. 2.

We don't often say this, but well done, NFL. All signs are pointing to the league overcoming last year's debacle in Mexico City.
