Miami AD Tweets Statement of Apology After Canes Suffer First Shutout Bowl Loss in 25 Years
By Jerry Trotta

It would appear that the Miami Hurricanes' latest horrific bowl game showing will NOT mark the end of Manny Diaz's coaching tenure.
Athletic director Blake James took to Twitter following Miami's humiliating 14-0 loss to Louisiana Tech in the Independence Bowl on Thursday night to apologize to Canes fans. Additionally, James declared his public support of Diaz as the right man for the job.

James' endorsement of Diaz might come as a surprise to most Miami buffs as the Canes' shutout loss marked the program's first in a bowl game in 25 years. Remember their 58-0 annihilation at the hands of Clemson back in 2015? Head coach Al Golden was subsequently canned.
In terms of Bowl games, the Hurricanes' last embarrassment came in 2018 against Wisconsin, which foreshadowed the abrupt end of Mark Richt's rein.

The fact that Miami's AD had to come out with an apology proves that this program is nowhere near achieving national relevancy. Each season, they garner hype only to fall alarmingly below expectations.
Who knows what 2020 has in store.
