VIDEO: Udonis Haslem Reveals Pat Riley Had to Get Surgery for an Embarrassingly Comical Reason
By Scott Rogust
With the coronavirus pandemic shutting down the sports world until further notice, plenty of athletes have used their platform to give fans a window into their favorite stars. Retired future Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade has taken the opportunity to interview the likes of Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony, but he recently had a discussion with former Miami Heat teammate Udonis Haslem on the NBA's official Instagram account on Sunday. Of course, D-Wade asked Mr. Miami about his fondest memory of the legendary Pat Riley, and the Heat lifer didn't disappoint.
That's right, Riles was so appalled by the Heat's performance during halftime of a game that he kicked a door hard enough for him to blow out his hip. The discovery happened after players noticed Riley's continuous absence after two weeks.
You know you angered your coach/executive enough for him to injure himself unintentionally while venting his frustrations. It's essentially guaranteed that Miami's players were forced to hold back laughter once they saw Riley return to the team's facility.
We're sure Riley wasn't too angry about it considering the number of NBA titles the Heat have earned during his watch as either a coach or a front office boss. A little bit of pain is worth it for a Larry O'Brien Trophy or three.
