Michael Bennett Continues to Drive Eagles Fans Mad With Latest Carson Wentz-Nick Foles Take
By Michael Luciano
Despite several years of elite production, some former Philadelphia Eagles players and fans alike think quarterback Carson Wentz is inferior when compared to Chicago Bears gunslinger Nick Foles despite substantial evidence that proves those opinions wrong.
Former Eagles defensive end Michael Bennett is puzzlingly also aligned with the pro-Foles, anti-Wentz movement, as he claimed that Foles is better during an appearance on Chris Long's podcast.
Bennett didn't offer any proof to defend his bold claim. He just said a guy who might not beat out Mitch Trubisky is better than one of the league's best young quarterbacks.
Foles finally got his chance to prove the haters wrong when he signed a four-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but the deal quickly became one of the worst contracts in NFL history. Foles started just four games, losing all four of them, and he threw three touchdowns in those games. Gardner Minshew, a sixth-round rookie, went 6-6 as the starter and threw 21 touchdowns in 12 starts, which got the trade to Chicago moving.
Wentz meanwhile, was throwing to a cast of practice squad guys and running backs last year, and he was still among the best quarterbacks in football as he helped the Eagles make it to the playoffs. What exactly is Bennett going off of?
The Eagles made the right choice picking Wentz over Foles, despite the opinions of contrarians like Bennett and Eagles fans that still found ways to complain about their team during a Super Bowl run.
