Michael Conforto Heading to New York to Meet With Mets Medical Director Following Latest MRI
By Jerry Trotta

Given the New York Mets' unfriendly history, it's been quite surprising that, despite a few scares, the club has managed to luck out on the injury front thus far in Spring Training.
Fans in Queens will be hoping that same fortune presents itself in regards to the status of outfielder Michael Conforto. The former All-Star tweaked his side while making a catch over the weekend and subsequently underwent an MRI in Florida.
It's unclear whether the Mets were pleased with the results, but the fact that Conforto is headed to the Big Apple to meet with the organization's medical director, Dr. David Altchek, is definitely concerning.

Conforto tweaked his side while making a catch in right field.
He got an MRI in Florida but needs to be evaluated further.
You really can't help but feel pessimistic when you hear the phrase "needs to be evaluated further," but there simply isn't enough information available at this time to take a definitive stance.
Conforto projects to be an integral component of a revamped Mets team that has playoff aspirations. It goes without saying that losing him for a significant period of time would be a dispiriting obstacle to overcome.
Can confirm @timbhealey’s report that Michael Conforto is heading back to NY to be evaluated. As Tim noted, he tweaked his side catching a fly ball a couple of days ago. Got an MRI in Florida, but needs further training eval.

The Mets are rightly being cautious with the 27-year-old slugger, and we'll have updates on his status as they are made available.
In 2019, Conforto clubbed 30 home runs and registered 92 RBI for the Amazins.
