The Foot Locker Slam Fest was really an event ahead of its time, as it paired elite athletes from football, baseball, and track and field together to perform in a dunk contest. In 1992, the likes of Michael Irvin, Deion Sanders, Ken Griffey Jr., and Barry Bonds showed off their boundless athleticism by uncorking some rim-rattling dunks.

The two most impressive dunkers in this little exhibition were Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Cris Carter and Mike Conley Sr., the father of Utah Jazz point guard Mike Conley Jr. and a former Olympian. Their skills in this contest make more sense when you discover that Carter was an All-State basketball player and the brother of former Indiana Pacers guard Butch Carter, while Conley Sr. is a former world record holder in the long jump and triple jump.

Especially considering how sports are currently on ice due to the coronavirus, seeing the likes of Mike Trout and Odell Beckham Jr. throw down dunks like this would be ratings gold.

Fans who always wanted to see Julio Jones throw down a monster two-handed jam could see their wish come true if a similar event can be patched together at some point in the future.
