By Karl Rasmussen
The basketball world was met with the tragic news of Kobe Bryant's passing Sunday afternoon, and in the following hours, various athletes have come out to share statements in honor of the Lakers legend.
Michael Jordan is the latest to open up about the impact Bryant had on his life, releasing an emotional statement to social media about the man who largely extended his legacy in the game.
"I am in shock over the tragic news of Kobe's and Gianna's passing. Words can't describe the pain I'm feeling. I loved Kobe -- he was like a little brother to me," Jordan said.
Kobe, who was so often compared to Jordan throughout his NBA career, has left a lasting impact on the sport, and on just about everyone who's ever picked up a basketball.
As Jordan mentioned, Bryant was more than just an icon for the NBA. Bryant was a father of four, and a devoted one at that.
Even those who inspired Bryant felt his influence on the game, and were also impacted by the Mamba. Jordan, the renowned best of all time, is no different in that regard.
