Michael Kay Cleared to Return to Yankees Broadcast Booth

The voice of the New York Yankees should be returning to the booth very soon for an exciting stretch run.
Michael Kay, the Yankees' play-by-play man on the YES television network, has been out since early July after needing surgery to have a nodule removed from one of his vocal cords. After roughly five weeks, Kay has now been cleared to return to TV duties.

The 58-year-old broadcaster had hoped to make his comeback a week ago, but his specialist, Dr. Steven Zeitels, said that he needs more time before he can give him clearance to return to work.
On top of his duties as the Yankees' play-by-play man, Kay hosts his own show, "The Michael Kay Show," on 98.7 FM ESPN New York, which he's expected to resume on August 26.
As of this time, there's no official date set for Kay's television return.

Ryan Ruocco has covered the majority of Yankee games in Kay's absence. Expect him to take it slow in the early going; that means we could still see more of Ruocco in the booth over the final weeks of the regular season.
