Michael Kay, the voice of the New York Yankees and host of his own afternoon radio show, makes his money talking for a living. Sadly, he couldn't talk and do his job for six weeks after undergoing vocal cord surgery.

Kay returned to the booth this weekend to call two games for the YES Network, which I'm sure made him excited. However, Kay is worried that his voice didn't return the way he'd hoped and he's scared his return won't last.

“Quite frankly, I’m scared,” Kay told The New York Post.

The 58-year-old is full of anxiety and worried about his future, and let's just say, his time away from work was no picnic.

“Awful,” Kay said of what the last six weeks have been like for him. “Filled with anxiety and fear. Not being able to speak for all that time. You’re trapped in your own mind and you’re thinking the worst. It’s been very scary and at no point do I think I’m all good now. It took a long time to get back and I didn’t rush because I want it to be right and I want it to last.”

Kay will really put his voice to the test in the coming days and weeks, as he'll be back doing his show on Aug. 26. He's slated to do a full week of radio and double his workload on Aug. 30 when the Yankees play the A's.

We're all wishing the best for Kay.
