ESPN's Mike Wilbon Thinks Aaron Rodgers Should Betray Packers and Find Way to Join Bears
By Mark Powell
With the selection of Utah State QB Jordan Love, the Green Bay Packers signaled that the end of the Aaron Rodgers era isn't so far away.
Whether that split comes next season or several years from now at Rodgers' discretion remains to be seen. Yet, Rodgers is ever fresh in the mind of former Chicago sports columnist and "Pardon the Interruption" co-host Michael Wilbon, and ESPN's longtime talking head thinks No. 12 ought to seek revenge as soon as possible.
"I'm going to tell you something now that you're going to think is preposterous. Aaron Rodgers is going to be in a Bears uniform sometime in the next couple of years. That's going to happen," Wilbon said on Friday.
Whoa.
While we don't doubt that the Love pick has lit a fire under Rodgers, envisioning him in Bears colors is sacrilege. The Packers are merely making preparations for life after No. 12, but that likely doesn't line up with Rodgers career timeline.
Love has plenty of upside, but needs a few seasons to mature not just as a professional quarterback, but person as well. He'll have that opportunity on the sidelines at Lambeau.
This Packers' move does speak to the obvious fact that they've yet to surround him with first-round-caliber talent. Thankfully, in a deep wide receiver class, they can do so with an appropriately-placed second-round selection.
