Michigan's Charles Matthews Tears ACL During Celtics Workout
By Michael Luciano

As much as draft workouts can be a chance to strut your stuff in front of team personnel, the injury risk is always there. Unfortunately for Michigan's Charles Matthews, the injury bug bit him at the worst possible time.
During a workout with the Boston Celtics, Matthews tore his ACL, per official word from his agent on Sunday afternoon. For a player who was viewed as a second-round talent and emerging defensive target, the former Wolverine faces an uphill battle towards getting drafted.

Matthews averaged 12.2 points and 5.0 rebounds per game on two Michigan teams that did damage in the tournament. Matthews' calling card was his perimeter defense and ability to create his own shot.
This comes as an exceptionally tough break for Matthews, who has reportedly been destroying the workout circuit and was likely going to hear his name called.

There is always going to be a market for experienced wing defenders and shooters like Matthews, so there is still a chance he could sneak onto a team as an undrafted free agent.
