Michigan Star Ignas Brazdeikis Officially Leaving for NBA
By Scott Rogust
One Michigan Wolverine is staying put in the NBA Draft process.
Freshman Ignas Brazdeikis took to Twitter on Tuesday to officially announce that he will remain in this year's NBA Draft, foregoing his college eligibility.
Brazdeikis participated at the NBA Draft Combine last week in Chicago and hired an agent back in April. He even worked out for the Detroit Pistons on Monday.
The freshman did hint that he would think things over about possibly returning to school. Once coach John Beilein left Michigan to take the Cleveland Cavaliers gig, Brazdeikis expressed his desire to remain in the Draft.
With this, Brazdeikis is the first one-and-done Wolverine since Jamal Crawford left for the NBA back in 2000. He's also the first one-and-done player under Beilein in his 12-year (now completed) tenure with the Wolverines.
Brazdeikis was the Wolverines' leading scorer, averaging 14.8 points on a 46.2 field goal percentage, adding 5.4 rebounds and 0.8 assists through 37 games.
The freshman forward is projected to be a late-first to mid-second round draft pick in the NBA Draft on June 20.
