Despite entering the season with lofty expectations, Michigan State has struggled in 2019-20. The Spartans entered the year as the No. 1 team in the country, but have since slipped down the poll. Unfortunately, the latest injury update doesn't bode well for the team turning it around.

According to head coach Tom Izzo, senior guard Joshua Langford will miss the rest of the season after undergoing foot surgery.

Langford's season is over before it began, as the senior had yet to feature for the Spartans before being ruled out. He'd been dealing with a stress reaction in his foot, similar to one which held him out for 26 games in 2018-19.

Now, he's undergone a second surgery which will prevent him from returning to the hardwood for Michigan State this campaign.

The Spartans were hopeful they'd get the senior back at some point during the winter, but that no longer seems to be a possibility.

In his 13 games as a junior last season, Langford averaged career bests with 15.0 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. He also knocked down an impressive 40.3% of his 3-point attempts.
